Next week we have been invited to Disney HQ in London for a Halloween extravaganza!
Of course it was crucial that my fancy dress-loving daughter got her outfit right for the occasion. Luckily, help was at hand in the form of Jokers’ Masquerade which has a huge selection of children’s Halloween costumes available. We got almost a little overwhelmed by the choice (and admittedly the decision-making got a bit heated!), but Little I was determined to have a “pretty witch” costume, and she picked out a cute floaty number which she thinks resembles a ballet tutu.
Despite Halloween being over a week away, the costume has already had a number of trial runs in the home and so far it’s holding up well to the wear and tear. It’s an incredibly tactile costume. Little I can’t stop fiddling with it and playing with the layers of fabric on the skirt and the sparkle detail. Getting her to keep still in it for me to take a photo of her was an almost impossible task.
So now we have the outfit sorted, I have the task of explaining to Little I that we are not visiting Disney World next week, but Disney HQ. It’s a subtle but very important difference, and one that she doesn’t seem to grasp at present.
Matters may not have been helped by my husband showing Little I videos of Disney World in Orlando on the computer last weekend. Today when the topic of next week’s party came up in conversation, Little I rushed to tell me the rides that she was planning to go on. I hastened to explain to her for probably the fifth time that we AREN’T going to Disney World, but I don’t think the message sunk in. I really hope next week will be an exciting experience for her, and not a huge disappointment! I’m sure if Disney princesses feature somewhere in the event she will love it and forget all about the rides…
