Family Life

Before the Prosecco is in full flow…I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you, my valued readers, a very happy and restful Christmas.

This is my blog’s second Christmas, and over the holiday period I’m hoping it will receive an exciting re-design, which will bring with it lots of new blogging resolutions. While I love writing this blog, it will always have to play second fiddle to my family and my work, but I hope to try and make a bit more time for it next year and finally get around to tackling some of those ideas that have been brewing in my head for a while.

But for now, I’m really ready for a break and some quality time with my family. Little I seems the perfect age for enjoying the magic that surrounds Christmas. I’m very pleased that we’re spending it in our own home this year so that we can have everything just so.

She’s been a huge ‘help’ in decorating our home. I managed to avoid the temptation of readjusting things when she wasn’t looking, as for one, she’d know if anything was ‘out of place’; but secondly, who cares if our tree is slightly unbalanced in its decorations!

There’s nothing nicer than having a home lit with twinkling fairy lights, and a cupboard filled with festive treats (including a gingerbread house that we made from scratch!). As much as I miss warmth and sunshine, I do also enjoy being cocooned in our home at this time of year.

My highlight of this festive period so far has undoubtedly been watching Little I’s first nativity. I think it’s a proud and emotional moment in any parent’s life, and a memory that I will treasure for a very long time. I still can’t believe that she managed to keep it secret that she’d been chosen to carry the baby Jesus and deliver him to Mary and Joseph!

But for now, a gin and tonic and slice of stolen is calling me, and so before I waffle on anymore…I’d like to thank you for your incredible support over the past year. Thank you for reading, for commenting, and sharing your opinions and stories with me.

Have a truly wonderful Christmas, and see you back here in the New Year!
